Some days ago in Jerte´s Valley, in the north of Extremadura…….

he was told that, some centuries ago, an emperor from a cold country in the north of Europe and his family moved to our Valley in search of a warmer climate for their daily lives.

his wife was frequently in sorrow because she missed the white landscapes of her country. The emperor wasn´t able to make her happy again but one day, he decided to plant as many cherry trees as he could all over the Valley, so that every spring, and for a few days, his wife could smile again and enjoy the beautiful views from her fortress as the hillsides in the Valley were covered in “white snow”.
